What we deliver

Heat pump installation

Air source heat pumps designed to the building — with the £7,500 grant handled.

A well-designed air source heat pump delivers three to four kilowatt-hours of heat for every kilowatt-hour of electricity it uses. The catch is in the word designed: heat pumps fail when they are sized like boilers. We calculate the building's actual room-by-room heat loss, design emitters to run at low flow temperatures, and size the unit to the load — not the brochure.

The £7,500 Boiler Upgrade Scheme grant applies to eligible homes in England and Wales, and heat pump installations are 0% VAT. We handle the grant application, the MCS-required design calculations and the DNO notification as part of the job.

What's included

A typical air source heat pump installation costs £8,000–£14,000 before the £7,500 Boiler Upgrade Scheme grant, at 0% VAT.

Questions we're asked about heat pump installation

Will a heat pump work in an older house?

Usually, yes — with honest design. The heat loss calculation tells us what the building needs; sometimes that means larger radiators or targeted insulation first. We tell you the numbers either way.

What grants are available?

The Boiler Upgrade Scheme provides £7,500 towards an air source heat pump for eligible homes in England and Wales, and installations are 0% VAT. We apply for the grant on your behalf.

Do heat pumps need planning permission?

Most domestic air source heat pumps are permitted development under current rules. Listed buildings and some conservation areas need consent — we check and handle it in the survey.

How much will it cost to run?

A heat pump running at a seasonal efficiency of 3–4 turns each kWh of electricity into 3–4 kWh of heat. Paired with solar, a battery and the right tariff, most homes cut heating costs against a gas boiler — we model your case with your numbers before you commit.
